Then all of a sudden the characters all took off into left field, their motives became increasingly inexplicable, the changes seemed less like growth and more like a drug trip, and by the time it ended I was glad. There’s a reason why I can’t read novels of this ilk anymore. They had no luck. Someone who knows my love for reading suggested audio books as a way to cope with my disdain for the long commutes to getting things done. This really is the plot of the book. Paperbackpages.

Her heroines are equally scrappy — medieval Scarlett O’Haras who often have a low regard for the men who eventually win them over. I struggled to get through this book, and quite frankly it was not a quick, easy read. Jude has also stepped outside her milieu, with mixed results.
