Cisco Connect enables the below: Router worked pretty good for a year and a half and then it just died one day. Arrived in 2 days and I had it up and running in 15 minutes. My internet is faster now and covers my studio apt. I now have on my desk the slim less than an 1. The feature that I really like about the X is you can turn off all the lights except the power-on light. My old modem and wireless router had a total of 11 steady and flashing lights that I found VERY annoying.

Cisco Linksys X review: Cisco Linksys X – CNET
Apple tech assist was absolutely superb help, but, still nothing worked. Cisco rep vaguely stated that maybe Apple had not licensed OS X I finally realised X was a useless piece of garbage. Linksyys great right out of the box. The Linksys software did not detect them, so that much of the set-up was linlsys plug-and-play. I would recommend the Linksys X to anyone who uses DSL and wants wireless capability but didn’t want or have room for two devices.
So I’m familiar with the troubles and the pain that you have to experience making everything work when you replace a modem or router.
However I was pleasantly surprised linksus the simplicity of connecting the X I had budgeted at least two hours to install this modem because it took me a good amount of time to configure the previous setup but the X found all the settings needed and I was off and running.
I purposely waited a linksy of weeks before writing this review to make sure there weren’t any latent issues. So far I haven’t encountered any. Just insert the installation disc and follow the prompts. The modem does the rest.

I haven’t encountered any drops or loss of connection. My only concern is the range of the router, I have a single family concrete construction home and the signal gets very poor after about twenty feet. Will test that a little later. Placed the call to Cisco, explained our specific situation regarding the installation of the modem router, and their customer service technician helped my husband and I complete the installation and setup on both our computers.
My husband uses a desktop, and I use a laptop. The Cisco technician was very professional and was able to get the technical information we required for our installation. The steps for installation on the disc were easy to follow.
All in all, things are running smoothly and have not experienced any problems.
I hope the product continues to be very reliable in the future. It’s nice to be able to use my laptop now and not be subjected to losing the wireless connection all the time. The enhanced security provided with this modem router is also a very big plus.
